Bespoke Handrail System.

Butterfield of Skipton (BOS) was commissioned to design, fabricate, and install a bespoke handrail system.

This bespoke handrail system was for a sloped access ramp at a newly refurbished hotel in York.

Scope of project

What we did…

• Site Survey & Design:
  A full site visit was carried out to measure and assess the ramp.
  Our in-house draftsman produced detailed fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures, ensuring full compliance with current British Standards.
• Fabrication & Finishing:
  The handrail system was fabricated in our Keighley workshops using high-quality materials.
  All components were professionally painted prior to delivery.
• Installation:
  Our operatives completed the full on-site installation, including:
• Drilling and fixing into existing surfaces
• Welding elements as required
• Touching up paintwork to maintain a consistent finish after installation
• Configuration:
  The handrail followed two different edge conditions:
• One side ran tight against a wall and required a simple handrail
• The opposite side, along an open edge, included vertical railings for added safety
